The pair have developed this series together with the pilot script written and a mini series bible including an outline of the other episodes in the season.

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, Meadowbrooke Media hosted a Live Table Read of the pilot script at the historic Plaza Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia in front of a live audience. Ten actors preformed on stage reading for the various roles. Kristen and Joshua were the moderators as well as readers for the action and slug lines. The entire performance was recorded with video and audio. Tickets were sold through Eventbrite. The Reading was a success with a promising turn out.

REVIEWS

INDIE SHORTS MAG

Joshua Paul Messarge’s Going Down South is a dark comedy that explores a crucial turning point in the lives of two brothers who live a life of crime. In this 20-minute film, circumstances bring Mickey and Donnie to a point where their lives could change forever in the best or worst of ways.

FILM THREAT

Messarge’s story is poignant, and the filmmaker uses the thriller elements to heighten the stakes. Going Down South shows us how easy it is to get caught in the hamster wheel of life, where we repeat the same actions over and over again. It tells us that it takes something big or devastating to snap ourselves out of it.
